VERGE SPORT INSULATED CROSS PANTS! (Winter Weight)

Verge Sport knows cross better than any other apparel manufacturer in America and our insulated cross pants even make the Belgians jealous!  Featuring full opening side zippers, along with adjustable bib straps that also fully open allowing nearly instant removal.  When the race official announces 1 minute to start, you open the zippers and step out of your pants without ever touching your muddy shoes.

Pre-race convenience is just the beginning because these pants are made from a dual materials to ensure fit and function.  The front is a heavy weight membrane that blocks both wind and water.  The back of the pant is constructed of Super Roubaix with a special water repellant treatment.  The knee is articulated so you do not feel bunching and the calf area is specifically designed tighter to minimize contact with your chain rings.  Wide comfortable elastic is placed at the ankle and waste to keep them in place, even while inspecting the cross course.

**Intended temperature range is 50 degrees and below**

    Mandatory equipment

I have a couple pairs of Verge Sport mid-weight ‘cross pants, but when I placed my ‘cross order this year, I noticed they had a new “winter weight” version, so I decided to give those a try. We’ve had such a mild winter, I only finally took them out of the bag last weekend, and I was blown away.

They are close-fitting but not tight, fully articulated, with velcro suspenders for quick removal. If you have problems with pressure on your knees and tracking from wearing tights, these are for you. What really amazed me was the fabric. It’s coated, water-resistant on the outside, fleece on the inside, soft, and so warm. Combined with a Peak Combo or Forza jacket, there is no winter you couldn’t ride through with these pants.

Verge is my sponsor, of course, but they didn’t ask me to make this post. I was just so psyched about how awesome these are, and I don’t think the description really does them justice, so I felt compelled to sing their praises here. I like riding outside all year ‘round. No bad weather, only bad gear, as they say. I have the Defend and Zima tights, too. These go a level beyond that in terms of warmth and comfort. If you ride through the winter, I’d suggest giving them a look.

    Very warm, excellent fit

Elastic grippers at ankles and waist stay in place nicely. Legs are cut perfectly and don't bind when pedaling. Bib straps could use some more length in the Velcro to increase adjustment. Concerned that the back side of the legs where there's only weather resistant coated Lycra may not be waterproof enough when it's raining or very windy but haven't been able to test it yet. Overall very pleased so far. Big plus is the excellent customer service from Verge. When they mistakenly shipped by a slower method than what I requested, they issued a refund without question or hesitation.
